Description

Currently partnered with a newly launched equity multi-strategy fund that is looking to build out their data science function. The firm does not have anyone covering this area internally at the moment, creating an opportunity to join during a formative stage and help influence how the data platform evolves. While they continue to bring on more portfolio managers and expand their research footprint, this role offers direct exposure to decision makers. Ideally targeting candidates coming from a data science/analytics background within a hedge fund or asset manager. Further responsibilities and requirements below:

Key Responsibilities

• Partner closely with Portfolio Managers to analyze investment ideas using structured data, statistical methods, and alternative datasets
• Develop flexible analytics, tools, and workflows that help investment teams test theses and explore data independently
• Work across large, varied datasets to generate insights that support or challenge fundamental views in real time
• Evaluate and introduce modern data science and AI driven techniques to improve research efficiency and decision making
• Communicate findings clearly in investment discussions, translating complex analysis into actionable conclusions

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of experience applying data science or analytics in an investment, financial, or research‑driven environment
• Strong programming skills in Python with hands‑on experience analyzing complex datasets
• Familiarity with equities or related financial concepts, with the ability to engage directly with investment professionals
• Experience building tools, analyses, or dashboards used by nontechnical stakeholders
• Clear communicator who can balance analytical rigor with practicality and speed in a fast past setting
