BAKX Therapeutics is developing safer and more effective drugs in the mitochondrial apoptosis pathway. We bring together biologists and clinicians with deep knowledge of apoptosis along with computational scientists, medicinal chemists & experienced drug developers for a uniquely integrated approach to discovering and developing drugs.

This is a laboratory-based position requiring a scientist with strong experience in protein sciences and assay development. This motivated and rigorous scientist will play a key role in protein expression, purification, and assay development within BAKX's protein science group. This work will support cutting-edge efforts to develop novel therapeutics in multiple drug discovery programs to address the unmet medical needs in oncology. This scientist will be a highly collaborative team player joining a world-class team of drug discovery scientists pioneering novel approaches targeting difficult to drug proteins using innovative computational and medicinal chemistry approaches.

Key Responsibilities:
• Protein expression, purification, and characterization with routine maintenance of mammalian
cell lines
• Protein purification using AKTA system with chromatographic techniques such as IMAC, IEC and
SEC etc.
• Routine molecular biology including construct design, bacterial cell transformation, DNA preps
and mammalian cell transfection
• Routine protein characterization including SDS-PAGE, analytical HPLC, Western Blotting, etc.
• Biochemical and biophysical assay development such as DSF, FP, TR-FRET, MST assays, etc.
• Evaluation and implementation of emerging technologies in protein production and assay
• Quantitative in vitro pharmacology experiments to evaluate small-molecule MOA and assess
• Analysis and interpretation of experimental data
• Constructively and proactively suggest and implement problem-solving in the laboratory
• Timely documentation of experiments and associated data in laboratory notebooks to enable
reproduction of experiments and support IP filings
• Work as a team player, clearly communicate and share ideas and results in group meetings
