About VSOS
Veterinary Specialists of Sydney (VSOS) is a 24/7 emergency and multidisciplinary referral hospital in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire. We’re known for advanced procedures (including open-heart mitral valve repair, interventional radiology, complex orthopaedics and neurology) and a culture built on excellence, innovation, collaboration and care.
As a privately owned hospital, we retain the agility to invest in our people, technology, and ideas — without compromise. Our team is united by a shared belief in going Beyond Possible for our patients, clients, and each other.
The Surgical Internship
This 12-month structured Surgical Internship provides intensive, mentored exposure to specialist-level surgery within a high-volume referral environment. It is designed as a foundational launchpad for veterinarians who are considering:

Contribute meaningfully to case planning, peri-operative care, and client communication
Participate in weekly Journal Club, morbidity & mortality rounds, and structured CPD
Receive support to contribute to and publish clinical research
Work as a valued member of the surgical team, not simply an assistant
This program is designed to challenge you — while ensuring you are supported, supervised, and never left to struggle alone.
