Description
The University Information Technology Services (UITS) Departmental Solutions (DSOL) Web Team plays a vital role in supporting Indiana University's mission by providing innovative web solutions and reliable technical services. Our team of 12 skilled developers and analysts manages and maintains approximately 300 departmental websites while also developing shared tools and platforms that make content management more efficient, accessible, and user-friendly. By partnering with academic and administrative units, we help ensure IU websites remain accurate, engaging, and aligned with the university's standards.The DSOL Web Team provides 2 levels of support across IU websites: technical and maintenance support for 300+ sites historically managed by the Creative and Web Team, and infrastructure, CMS, and general support for more than 1,200 enterprise websites. Our support team works closely with schools, departments, researchers, and service units across the university to deliver timely, dependable solutions. Through our internship program, students gain hands-on experience in website management, IT support, and tool development while contributing to projects that impact the entire university community.
Job Summary
- Assists with updating and maintaining departmental website content.
- Supports basic website testing to ensure pages display and function correctly.
- Helps with website migrations by organizing files, checking links, and verifying layouts.
- Provides basic technical support to team members and departments as needed.
- Learns and uses web content management systems (WCMS) under supervision.
- Documents simple processes or updates to help improve team workflows.
- Collaborates with developers and analysts on small projects and shared tools.
- Gains exposure to best practices in web accessibility, usability, and design.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
- Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University with an interest in IT Related Fields
- Currently enrolled in an IT related major
Preferred
- Some experience in IT
Required
- Strong willingness to learn new technologies and tools
- Attention to detail when updating or reviewing website content
- Basic computer literacy (comfortable using web browsers, Word/Google Docs, spreadsheets)
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks independently with supervision
- Problem-solving mindset and curiosity about how websites work
- Teamwork and collaboration skills in a professional environment
- Time management and organization to handle multiple small tasks
- Strong written and verbal communication and listening skills
- Maintains a high degree of professionalism
- Familiarity with HTML/CSS or content management systems
Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

This position is eligible for remote work, subject to change based on university policy and business needs.
