Description
The Department of Ophthalmology is seeking a clinician scientist to fill a full time (1.0 FTE) faculty position of any rank (Assistant, Associate, or Professor level) at the UCHealth Sue Anschutz-Rodgers (SAR) Eye Center. The position will combine research and clinical ophthalmology. The ideal applicant will be MD or MD/PHD with approved residency training in ophthalmology, including fellowship training. The applicant will establish a wet or dry lab research program in vision science. At least 50% of the total effort should be devoted to research.
Key Responsibilities:
Provides direct patient care at University of Colorado UCHealth Sue Anschutz-Rodgers (SAR) Eye Center in the medical management of ophthalmic disorders. Develop a vibrant and productive research program in vision science. Establish a competitive extramurally funded research program. Actively collaborate with other teams within the department and across campus to advance vision science and ophthalmology care. Participate in division case conferences, journal clubs and grand round. Mentor junior faculty.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor, Senior Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:
Assistant Professor:
MD with approved residency training in ophthalmology including fellowship training.
Have begun to establish a vision science research program.
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in a relevant discipline.
Proven track record of extramural funding such as NIH K or R01 grants and evidence of the ability to establish an independent research program competitive for future extramural funding.
Key opinion leader in their respective specialty.
Associate Professor:
MD with approved residency training in ophthalmology including fellowship training
Proven track record of extramural funding, such as NIH K and R01 grants, along with an established independent research program.
Research program that is competitive for future extramural funding.
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in a relevant discipline.
Key opinion leader in their respective specialty.
Professor:
MD with approved residency training in ophthalmology including fellowship training.
Proven track record of extramural funding, such as NIH R01 grants along with an established independent research program.
Key opinion leader in their respective specialty.
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in a relevant discipline.
