This independent Post Doctoral opportunity is contained within the Psychology Consultation Service (PCS) at Memorial University Medical Center (MHMUC) which as been a part of the Department of Psychiatry at MHUMC for over 10 years. The PCS was established to support the Department through addressing the non-medical behavioral health needs of the patients at MHUMC. Its presence has reduced the time demands placed on the psychiatric staff while enhancing the overall quality of care provided by the Department within MHUMC. This service is broadly utilized by more than 7 service lines at Memorial including Hospitalists, Internal Medicine, Trauma, Surgery, Pallitative Care, Bariatrics, Cardiology, Neurology and Pediatrics along with participation in the Ethics Committee. The services provided by the PCS are well to highly valued by the physician contingent in terms of clinical utility and patient care. These physicians have been globally supportive of the PCS and have determined that this service is of notable value in supporting the provision of the best care for their patients .
This service is currently funded through the Department of Psychiatry. It is anticipated that this service will join contracturally shortly through Gateway CSB in Savannah where the Fellow will experience a parallel position within the psychiatric residency training program there. The service line there will provide a range of supervision, training and research opportunities for the Fellow selected for this position and allow for the completion of the full requirements of the Post Doc over the year of participation.
Requirements
Completion of PhD in Psychology or PsyD and eligible for provisional licensure in the State of Georgia.
