Description
The Orvis School of Nursing at the University of Nevada, Reno seeks a dynamic and highly skilled Nurse Scientist with an established record of clinical scholarship to drive impactful clinical research, advance nursing outcomes in acute and subacute care, and foster interprofessional scholarship within a tertiary care academic practice partnership. This role integrates clinical expertise with innovative research to enhance patient outcomes and nursing practice through evidence-based approaches.
The Nurse Scientist role is a cornerstone in the Orvis School of Nursing's commitment to advancing nursing science and transforming patient care through research, innovation, and interprofessional collaboration. The faculty will provide leadership to the Center for Nursing Outcomes Research within the Office of Research and Innovation.
The Nurse Scientist will contribute to teaching within the Orvis School of Nursing focused on direct instruction and mentorship on cutting-edge research in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. This position will lead curricular initiatives that integrate research methods and findings into nursing education.
Faculty rank (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) will be determined commensurate with qualifications and experience, including the option of an Endowed Professorship. This position is for a B3, 12-month contract, non-tenure track OR tenure-track position.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
PhD in nursing, clinical research, or other relevant research-focused doctoral preparation. A graduate degree in nursing (PhD, DNP, or MSN) is required.
Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Nevada or eligible for licensure in Nevada.
Proven success in grant writing, with a preference for securing and managing NIH, PCORI, or similar funding sources.
Strong analytical, statistical, and research skills with experience in diverse methodologies.
Demonstrated leadership, team building, and project management abilities.
Flexibility and openness to interprofessional collaboration aligned with institutional and clinical priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of five years of acute care nursing experience.
