PARF, a non-profit entity, is seeking an experienced accelerator scientist to serve in a position as a Lead Research Scientist. In this position, they would lead efforts in particle accelerator development for which a societal benefit is already in evidence. They may participate in ongoing projects, and/or in parallel to help originate new projects.
Qualifications for this position include:
A Ph.D or substantially equivalent experience in accelerator science, or in a closely allied discipline such as physics or engineering, via study, research, engineering, and/or qualifying employment.
A record of written publications in peer-reviewed scientific or engineering publications, and of oral scientific and/or technical presentations in accelerator science and/or closely related fields.
Evidence of creativity that is needed to originate and to inspire others in new initiatives.
Evidence of experimental skills and facility with computer codes used in accelerator science.
Evidence of management skills that are needed to organize and direct a project team.
Compensation and benefits for this position are to be competitive with those at other corresponding US non-profit entities in the field of accelerator R&D.
PARF focuses on technical goals for projects that would employ novel accelerator technologies towards applications with clear societal benefits. This objective is to be met at PARF by origination of R&D projects in competition with other non-profit entities such as universities or National Laboratories. Additionally, by providing, on a contract basis, expert scientific/technical, administrative, and financial services to meet the needs of small, start-up, or established R&D entities. PARF recognizes that to meet these needs, it is not always practical or economic for these other entities to acquire, or desire to acquire, these services on their own.
