The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) seeks an academic clinical microbiologist to serve as Medical Director of Conventional Clinical Microbiology and Scientific Leader with a nationally recognized research program at the interface of clinical microbiology, diagnostics, and infectious diseases. This position offers a unique opportunity to leverage the clinical microbiology laboratory as a platform for translational discovery leading to improved patient care.
This position will serve as Medical Director of conventional clinical microbiology, including bacteriology, mycology, mycobacteriology, and parasitology, utilizing culture, microscopy, and phenotypic methods for organism detection and identification. A defining feature of this position is a substantial protected research commitment. The successful candidate will be expected to establish, sustain, and grow an independent and/or highly collaborative, extramurally funded research program that bridges clinical microbiology with fundamental and translational investigation.
