Reporting to the Associate Director, Antibody Discovery and Engineering, the Scientist, Antibody Discovery and Engineering will be responsible for development and execution of therapeutic antibody discovery and optimization campaigns, working with research team to screen discovery molecules, and generate critical data to enable clinical candidate selection.
This role may be based in our Waltham, MA headquarters, which would be a hybrid role, or it can also be fully remote. Our office-based employees are required to work in the office three (3) days a week. If remote, travel to headquarters for meetings would be required at the discretion of management.
Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
Lead/participate in the generation, design, characterization, and developability assessment of therapeutic antibodies and other biotherapeutic formats
Contribute to design and execution of screening cascade to generate and optimize lead antibodies with desired pharmacological and biophysical properties
Contribute to data analysis, visualization, and interpretation of experimental findings
Effectively communicate complex data and research progress with scientists, project teams and management
Collaborate with and manage multiple external CRO partnerships to advance discovery initiatives, ensuring high-quality deliverables are met on time to support organizational objectives and timelines
Review scientific literature on antibody technologies and therapeutic biology to propose innovative solutions to complex biological questions
Requirements
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree and at least 7 years of experience or Master’s Degree and at least 5 years of experience, or PhD and at least 2 years of experience preferably in therapeutic antibody/protein development
Solid background in protein sciences to support lead discovery and characterization, including protein sequence design, expression and purification strategies, protein characterization, binding and interaction analysis (BLI, SPR, flow cytometry, etc.)
Demonstrated experience working with different antibody formats e.g. mAbs, Fabs, scFv, Vhh, Bispecific, multi specific, Fc fusions, and more
Demonstrated experience in lead antibody generation using hybridoma, single cell screening, and display technologies
Demonstrated experience in antibody engineering, production, and characterization
Experience selecting and managing CRO’s for external research projects
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate scientific results
Proven mindset of proactive continuous improvement
Efficient independent worker with ability to focus and drive for results
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to handle multiple tasks
Strong commitment to ethical standards
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.)
