As a Veterinary Intern – Anaesthesia, you will have the opportunity to develop your expertise in both small and large animal anaesthesia while working alongside highly experienced specialist clinicians and academics within the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital. In this role, you will provide high-quality anaesthesia care across a diverse caseload, gain valuable exposure to complex clinical cases, and play an active part in teaching and mentoring DVM students during their clinical placements, particularly within desexing clinic rotations. You will be trusted to manage and prioritise your own workload under supportive supervision, apply your clinical knowledge in a practical hospital environment, independently resolve routine challenges, and contribute to more complex case management, all while building your skills in a collaborative and learning-focused setting.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
deliver veterinary anaesthesia services under supervision, ensuring high-quality patient care and clinical outcomes
maintain accurate and timely billing, record keeping, and client follow-up to support efficient service delivery
ensure anaesthetic equipment is properly handled, cleaned, maintained, and compliant with biosecurity and clinical quality standards
support the training and supervision of veterinary students through clinical oversight, practical classes, tutorials, and teaching activities
actively contribute to professional development initiatives, including study groups, clinical rounds, and journal clubs
participate in after-hours and weekend rosters and undertake other duties appropriate to the role as required.
