About the role
DNV Maritime Region Americas is offering Summer 2026 internship opportunities.

We are currently looking for students to join us for a Summer 2026 internship in Miami, Florida.
We will select Seniors based on business needs aligned with your education, experience, and background.
We trust you as a relevant candidate are triggered by our purpose of safeguarding life, property, and the environment, which is key in our projects.
We are primarily hiring candidates with relevant Bachelor or Masters program specializations from:
- Marine Engineering
- Marine Transportation/Operations
- Marine Machinery
- Marine Technology
- Materials Science and Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Naval Architecture
- Mechatronics
What You'll Do
- The internship will last approximately 10 weeks. You will have the opportunity to work within various relevant technical disciplines. Our ambition is to give a broad technical foundation to pursue your career further.
- You will be given the chance to explore our Maritime organization and become familiar with the daily working life of surveyors and technical employees. You will gain valuable surveying, inspection, and technical experience
- You will become well acquainted with the DNV's company culture and organization and expand your professional network. We are confident that we can offer an interesting, challenging, and fun experience
- You will be responsible for a technical project for DNV, which will be agreed after selection of the internship.
- Gain familiarization with different types of vessels, for example cargo vessels, container vessels, tankers and cruise ships.
- Gain familiarization with vessel design and construction onboard ships and at shipyards. Physically inspect vessels deck side, engine room, accommodation and bridge.
- Gain experience with steel repair procedures, like welding, Non Destructive Testing methods, visual inspection and pressure testing .

What is Required
- Senior level in the above specified programs specializations
- Please indicate your Bachelor's or master's program specialization and/or main area of study during the application process.
- Strong interpersonal skills (communicate well in any environment)
- Flexible with work schedule on-board vessel or in field service
- Current TWIC (Transpiration Worker Identification Credential) card or at the start of assignment
- Physical abilities necessary to perform regular functions of the job: Climbing pilot ladders and vertical ladders of various heights, entering and exiting tanks, working in confined spaces, performing pilot and boat transfers, conducting voyage surveys, and working in harsh climates. Travel to and from survey sites and manufacturing plants aboard various marine vessels. Some tasks may be performed in an office environment. The use of small tools and wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with DNV safety procedures may also be required.
