Description
Thumbtack, Inc. (San Francisco, CA) to be responsible for applying scientific techniques to consumer products; working on the next generation search experience, ranking and matching algorithms, and the end-to-end hiring experience for users of proprietary marketplace; initiating and driving applied science initiatives to completion, with a focus on the business impact of those projects; architecting and deploying machine learning systems and algorithms to production; designing and executing experiments, collecting and analyzing data to characterize our product and marketing; analyzing a wide variety of data: structured and unstructured, observational and experimental; collaborating with engineers, data scientists, and economists to use sound statistical practices; maintaining the right balance between speed of execution and scientific rigor when designing solutions; technical mentorship of other applied scientists. Must have Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or a directly related field. Must have three (3) years of prior work experience in the position offered or related. Must know (through academic training or work experience) Python, Machine Learning, CS Algorithms, Data Science, Probability; scripting/programming languages Perl, Python, PHP, Java, VB, C#, R in developing solutions; developing compelling data visualizations, dashboards, tools and utilities using Open Source technologies Java/J2EE, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Spring, JQuery, D3, React.js; large volumes of data; extracts and manipulates large datasets using standard tools, such as Python, Hadoop, R, SQL, Spark; analyzing and cleaning data needed for various data science projects; design, development, implementation and management of data sources, modeling techniques and implementation methodologies, utilizing basic statistical models, algorithms and machine learning models in designing the solution; and developing data sources and data architectures to address business requirements, exploring and implementing data centric technologies, Hadoop/YARN Eco System. $133,952 – $165,000/yr. May work from home anywhere in the continental U.S. Actual offered salaries will vary and be based on various factors, such as calibrated job level, qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role.
